Woven Watercolors

Picture
36" X 12"

Pigment ink on fabric, this illustration is part of the "Woven Water" color series.

I use Tsukineko pigment ink to illustrate the fabric.
It's permanent and doesn't damage the fabric.

The illustration is outlined with a .5 black pigment ink pen.

Monet's Garden

Woven Watercolor - Monet's Garden 24" X 20"

Monet's garden

Picture
The original photo was taken in Monet's garden.
This is the photo the image was taken from.
I wanted to try to work with light.
I still haven't achieved the translucent effect on the leaves, but the dyed muslin captures the softness of the border.

I combined images that I  photographed, and translated into line thread illustrations with actual photographs of street art.

There is a story behind this quilt, a story of disappointment and frustration when I believed my case full of quilts was lost in transit from New York to London.

The texture expresses in this image depicts the fractured feelings I felt as I filmed this scene and waited for my luggage to be found.

It finally arrived 4 days later and I breathed a sigh of relief, but the picture is the story that is rather personal to me.
